Freed at Last – Luka Biniyat Regains Freedom
Luka Biniyat is presently receiving a Hero’s welcome after regaining his freedom this afternoon.
The political prisoner, who has been a critique of the of the Kaduna State governor, Nasiru el-Rufai, regained his freedom today after spending 93 days behind bars.
Luka’s was a clear case of persecution using government might and betrayal by the organization he served with all he has – Vanguard Newspaper.
It would be recalled that Biniyat was arrested for sending a report he received from the then driver to Audu Maikori (founder of Chocolate City) about the killing of five students of the Kaduna State College of Education (KSCOE), Gidan Ways, to Vanguard which later turned to be misleading. This happened in the heat of the systemic genocide of the people of Southern Kaduna by Fulani mercenaries last year. Immediately Luka realized that the source of the report was misleading he reportedly reached out to Vanguard even before the news was printed but they still went ahead to print it.
Throughout his ordeals Vanguard never stood by him and recently there has been pressure on him to apologize to the new sheriff in Kaduna, a man who has never apologized to anyone. Biniyat stood his ground.
The stringent bail conditions demanded by the judge is a clear indication that there were strong forces bend on keeping him in chains.
