SKYSFORM Holds Rural Security Awareness Campaign in Kagoro
A SPEECH PRESENTED BY THE SOUTHERN KADUNA YOUTHS AND STUDENTS FORUM (SKYSFOM) NATIONAL PRESIDENT,
COMRADE GALADIMA JESSE
DURING A PUBLIC LECTURE ON THE SKYSFOM’S:
“SAVE A SOUL/RURAL SECURITY AWARENESS CAMPAIGN”
AT KAGORO TOWNHALL, KAURA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, KADUNA STATE
ON THE 1ST AND 2ND OCTOBER, 2016
This programme is fashioned to be a neutral orientation and solution-finding platform to monstrous attacks bedeviling our communities, societies and the state, as whatever affects us affects the state directly. We have not prepared this programme to come and apportion blames but rather proffer workable and practical solutions.
In line with the foregoing, the youths who are the strength of the society must regardless of political affiliations and ethnic differences; rise up to our responsibilities and face the reality of the day of the incessant attacks by gunmen on our people and future, making us refugees in our own land and homes to where we don’t know. As youths, it’s time we must serve our communities to protect our history and future by volunteering ourselves to keep vigil and keep our eyes open, knowing that the thief comes in the night to steal, kill and to destroy. Hence, we must desist from drunkenness and immorality. We must adopt every possible means to support the epileptic state of security and the security personnel to combat and get rid of criminals within Southern Kaduna and Kaduna State. It is the pride of every government to have a crime-free society therefore, we must do something to help ourselves and families, as a father, mother, or child “do something”. Government cannot do everything, hence, we must not wait for government to do, what we can do to help ourselves; all within the confines of the law.
I call on all Skysfomites and the general public to support the leadership of SKYSFOM to put an end to the incessant attacks and killings in Southern Kaduna and Kaduna State. If in any case, the herdsmen are embarking on these crusades to actualize any grazing agenda, then we must stand in one accord to ensure that they fail woefully; and this can only be achieved when the problem of a Jaba man affects the Zango man and what affects Sanga affects Kaura etc.
As a people, it’s time we stop washing our dirty linens outside and the blame game irrespective of our political differences. At this part, I think we must support any of our persons in government, however, collectively treat anyone of them as a traitor in the case of any betrayal, but then we cannot say to have betrayers when we do not have one unified and common goal therefore, we must unite as a people.
I also think there is high level of misunderstanding among the political elites and also between the so-called elites and the grass root occasioned by wide communication gap, hence to bridge this gap as youths and students, we want to today officially announce the commencement and launching of a monthly programme tagged “SOUTHERN KADUNA MEET OUR ELITES” which is aimed at promoting understanding, friendliness and accountability to the grass-roots which shall commence immediately.
Finally, by tomorrow, we shall practicalize the unifying part of this programme in which resources sourced and gotten from different people would be offered to victims of Godogodo’s attack. I sincerely appreciate everyone who has contributed to the success of this programme. Once more, we are all welcome.
