Kidnapped Kaduna Pastor, Abductors Demand for N2Mil Ransom
Report just reaching us has it that the abductors of Rev. Yusuf Magaga have established contacts with his family and the church. According to the report his abductors are now demanding for a ransom of Two Million Naira (N2,000,000) as the requisite condition for his release.
It would be recalled that Rev. Yusuf Magaga, a senior pastor with the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), serving at Kabene, a Kuvouri (Surubu) village under Kumana Chiefdom in Kauru Local Government Council of Kaduna State was kidnapped on Wednesday, 6th June, 2016. Even with the timely mobilization of the youths in defense of the village, the gunmen, believed to be Fulani, still destroyed parts of the church’s building, injured a few youths and abducted the pastor.
It looks like these kidnappers have found a good business kidnapping the clergy. This is not the first time pastors have been abducted in Kaduna this year, some were killed and some were released after long negotiations with the kidnappers. Just yesterday, we received a report that a catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Gospel Inalegwu, who was abducted in his church in Kano Diocese about 3weeks ago has regained his freedom after a ransom was paid.
Furthermore, the decomposing remains of the Vicar of the Catholic Diocese of Otukpo and one other priest were discovered in the bush even after a ransom was paid. And on the 30th of June, 2016, a Southern Kaduna pastor, Rev. Zakariya Joseph Kurah, working with the ECWA church in Obi, Nasarawa State was machete and killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen. He was buried on the 5th of July, 2016 in his hometown of Zonkwa, Kaduna state.
