It was confusion and panic today as the Education Block of Kaduna State College of Education (KSCOE) Gidan Waya, Jemaa Local Government Area was completely burnt down this afternoon. The building which is said to house the both the Departments of Primary Education Studies (PES) and ECCE was the one worst affected

Although the authorities are yet to ascertain the actual cause of the inferno, feelers have it that it might have been ignited by uncontrolled bush burning.

Likewise, it is difficult to quantify the damage and losses invoked by the fire since some of the items and materials housed in the building are unquantifiable. Among other things, the building is believed to contain students documents, research papers and results.

The fire which started late in the morning was said to have continued uninhibited as all attempts to quench it was unsuccessful.

The college is the oldest institution of higher learning in the southern part of Kaduna State.
