Kachia/Kagarko Federal Constituency: Jagaba Defeats Akuso Again
Mr. Adams Jagaba the only APC member of the House of Representative from Southern Kaduna (Zone 3) of Kaduna State has defeated Mr. Danjuma Yusuf Akuso of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) again at the election petition tribunal sitting in Kaduna to claim a seat in the House of Representatives representing the Kachia/Kagarko Federal Constituency. The tribunal gave its judgment that the petition brought by Danjuma Y. Akuso lacked merit and therefore threw it out.
Adams Jagaba, a close ally of former speaker and now Sokoto State Governor, Tambuwal, was leader of the Northern Caucus in the House of Representatives and chaired the House of Reps Committee on Drugs/Narcotics and Financial Crimes. Mr. Jagaba defected to the APC from the PDP last year after clashing with close associates of then Vice President Namadi Sambo, who also hails from Kaduna State.
Meanwhile, Mr. Akuso, who had the backing of the then presidency, is the immediate past National President of ALGON and former Chairman of Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State. He has since been under EFCC investigation.
It was a keenly contested election where Jagaba polled 48876 votes to Akuso’s 44148.
