Diocese of Kafanchan Anglican Communion @ 25
The Diocese of Kafanchan, Anglican Communion, which was created in 1990 from Kaduna Diocese marks its 25th anniversary as a diocese today. Events to mark this milestone kick started on Thursday 10th September 2015 with an opening service of Holy Eucharist at the Cathedral Church of Holy Trinity with Rt. Revd. Timothy Yahaya (Jalingo) as guest preacher.
Day 2 started with an anniversary lecture themed, Diocese of Kafanchan @25; Mission challenges and prospects with the most Revd Dr. Benjamin A. Kwashi of Jos Diocese. The day ended with the Diocesan family meeting.
Day 3 which marks the hall mark of the ceremony began with the arrival of the Anglican Primate in Nigeria Most Revd. Nicholas D. Okoh MA, Fss, Mss, LL. D. He graced the official opening of the bishop court and office, dedication of the skill acquisition centre for widows and orphans, soil turning of the Puritan International academy in Marsa Bajju
The host Bishop most Rt. Revd Markus M. Dogo in his speech, welcomed everyone who graced the occasion and appreciated all who have been supporting the diocese since its inception. He mentioned some challenges besieging the diocese such as Religious crisis, attacks on rural churches where an Anglican Church was burnt down and over 40 people mainly women and children were killed, financial constraints etc.
Many dignitaries who were present include the former minister for power Prof. Chinedu Nebo who was a resident of Kafanchan as a child, Agwam Fanstwam, Chief of Kaninkon, Emir of Jemaa, Agwam Ikulu, Agwam Bajju, Agwa Atyap, Agwam Oegrok, Chief of Morao, Col. Kachim (Rtd)
The occasion will be rounded up on Sunday with a special thanksgiving service with Ven. Prof Chinedu Nebo as guest speaker.
